THIS YEAR – THIS WEEKEND, 350 Garden Challenge will involve all those groups and friends who’ve been with it last 3 years – with the ambitious goal of 3,500 actions toward a more resilient future throughout Sonoma County. YOU CAN GO TO DAILY ACTS MAP and find actions to join in: www.dailyacts.org/actions/map-350 and just stop by a few! This is very fun; have done it in two previous years along with our action of the year.

Our Oasis Farm activities began with the first 350 Garden Challenge, DailyActs, Sonoma Compost, iGrow Sonoma County, TransitionUS, ShareExchange and more great groups boost this including 350.org.

First time out, we brought 50 people to our place and built an The Lovin’ Oven w. Miguel Elliot of Living Earth Structures – see , www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNblNKfzO9o and put in a salsa garden. What fun! Great friends, new and longtime; great food from our own adobe (dug from the new well site) and a great beginning for our farm…will always recall those days fondly.

From the Share Exchange write up for this:
Sonoma County’s 4th Annual 350 Home & Garden Challenge Overview
On May 18th and 19th, thousands of people across Sonoma County will rise to the challenge of creating a more sustainable community…our goal this year is to inspire 3,500 registered actions. Please join us! You can start a garden, transform your lawn, hang a clothesline, transfer your money to a local bank or credit union, go car free – or take action in your own way! Small or large, every action counts. Together, we can become more food and energy independent, and build our communities stronger, healthier, more beautiful and more resilient. Join this community-wide effort by registering your action or multiple actions today! Doing a lot already? Help others. Inspire a neighbor and help them transform their lawn. Plant extra food and share the bounty(and more).

So there’s THAT – 350 Garden Challenge’s 3,500 action goal to help with.

But we also want to preserve the natural beauty and tranquility that is our Shollenberger Park! And the Shindig is coming around fast – June 15, this time at Tara Firma Farms. All the info is at “http://www.saveshollenberger.com/2012/05/shollenberger-shindig-2-online-tickets.html” Am excited that Maria Muldaur is performing! Her CD, On the Sunny Side, was great medicine when I, a single Mom, faced a lot atop Nob Hill in SF…recall many a day walking down the hill singing Grab Your Coat and Get Your Hat, Leave Your Worries on the Doorstep…wonderful stuff and real. Your life is what you make by the attitude you bring to it. And a walk through Shollenberger is good for your whole person! And those of your friends. And good day to you – hope you take a hike! (Meant in a good way always).
